We have a collection of approximately 6000 books on the shelves. The library has been divided into sections: reference, storybooks and information books for younger readers, and fiction and non-fiction for older readers. We also have books in languages other than English, and a local studies collection, which I plan to expand rapidly.
We have an efficient automated system, which will keep track of which students have what books. Students are entitled to borrow four books at a time, and they will be prevented from borrowing if they have not returned the books. Students and parents may borrow and return books anytime, except during library lessons.
Our Librarian, Ms. Deborah, will always recommend books she deems suitable for students, but in the end, their choice is their own.
Ms. Deborah will be happy to order requested books, if budget allows, and donations, in good condition, will always be most welcome. Many parents like to buy a book to give to the library to mark their child’s birthday and Ms. Deborah will be very happy to advise you on this.
If your child accidentally damages a library book at home, please do not try to repair it yourself- just tell us what has happened, and we will do the repairs. Accidents do happen!
Our library is still evolving, and we hope it will gradually become the hub of GCS: a welcoming, relaxing place where children and parents will love to spend time. We are open until approximately 4:00pm most afternoons and invite everyone to pay us a visit!
Looking forward to seeing you in our library!
